Way #2: Get out & About!

Out aaaaand About!

Hello fab singles! Sorry that it's taken SO LONG for me to turn my first REAL ENTRY out, but I've been enjoying the wonderful spring weather (even though the pollen is about to KILL me) and partying it up this spring break! I had seven fabulous days full of family, food and fun! Easter was wonderful as mommy was in the cooking spirit, making the world's best and cutest "bunny cake" for the grandkids! Then, I spent a lot, like unusual, amount of time out and about! I was rarely in the house! I went downtown Covington and watched the set up for a taping of an episode of Vampire Diaries, the Princess Diana exhibit at the Atlanta Civic Center with my mother and niece, saw "Why Did I Get Married Too" and spent Sunday evening with my Young Adult Minister, his wife and the other YA's. And all of this followed the crazy week preparing for Easter Service and the Easter Cantata! Whew! Can we say busy!? Why yes. Yes I can. And I can say it without grimacing as I had SO MUCH fun! More fun than I've had in a long time! And what did I do? I got OUT and ABOUT!

Singles, when is the last time you filled your time up with something other than yourself?

This is a personal entry for me as being "social" and removing myself from my room has always been a bit of an "issue". It may not seem like it, but I, Ally (Ashley "middle name" "last name") have always been a introvert! I know I'm very vocal at church and with friends, but I'd rather be home, in my FAB purple room, sitting in front of my computer with a cup of tea than ANYWHERE else! Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" had it so right when she said "there's no place like home". Well, there isn't, Toto! But I've recently discovered that nothing about holing myself up inside of my room for days at end is normal. And I will say that to YOU, presumably single person, too! NOTHING about spending all of your time with only yourself, wallowing in your singleness, is healthy. Especially when living this single life! When we were created, we were made to be in fellowship with one another, enjoying the company of another! Our very strength, as Christians, is in number as we are instructed to "not forsake the assembly" (meaning don't keep yourself away from the likeminded i.e. your fellow Christians). In number is where we build our endurance, the ability to survive the world which we live (but are not of). Imagine being stranded on a desert island with all the amenities that you could possibly ever want. High Speed internet, an all-you-can-buy shoe store that only sells Christian Louboutins, and an 24 hour Zaxbys! Okay, maybe those are all the amenities that I would ever want! Anyway! Just imagine it! For a few days, life would probably be grand. But without a single soul surrounding you, how long do you think you'll truly last? Well, that island is our LIFE as single Christians! Even with everything you think you need, that fabulous apartment, that one pair of BOSS shoes, that dream job...things can still get dull and lonely. I know you singles know what I'm talking about! You cannot live this thing alone, guys! That's why we need each other! Whether it's family, friends, coworkers, or just other singles that have the same desire as you...try to find someone to spend your time with this week! Enjoy each other!

Life it Up!
