Quote of the Moment

"In order to live victoriously as singles, we must get to the place where we live contentedly, without expecting our circumstances to change. It is in our living for today, as the day presents itself, that we become healthy, whole individuals, satisfied women who would be blessings in the lives of real men."

Way #4: Liberation

Living single. The single life. Singledom. Just plain SINGLE.

Lately, that word has been carrying such a stigma with me as it surely does with anyone else that shares the same title. Such a dirty word, it's been. And I know some of you are asking, "How in the world can you hate the word SINGLE and you're the author of a blog all about singleness?" Well here's how...

Way #3: Community Service

Yesterday (Saturday), I had the pleasure of working with the Young Adults at Greenforest Community Baptist Church on a service project! The mission was originally to clean out some of the stuff that has accumulated over the years in our Family Life Center (aka the gym). Instead, we turned our attentions to a closet in the "infamous" Room 12. I say "infamous" because everyone at "The Forest" has had a meeting/party/baby shower/ gathering of some sort in the room at some time in their membership/visitation at the church. So, when I say that we cleaned out a closet in the room, you can almost imagine what sort of state the closet was in! Decorations, pictures of members that no one even recognized, awards, eating utensils, even a box full of defunct television remotes! What in the world?! The job was huge! But not "too huge" for the Young Adults! After two hours (and some...a lot of fellowship), The Young Adult Ministry, the Mwaura's (our Youth/Young Adult Minister), a wonderful youth volunteer and Rev. Holder finally got the thing cleaned out and organized! The floor was swept, the clutter removed. I couldn't help but smile a bit as we looked at the outcome and especially after I thought about what Rev. Holder had been saying the entire time.

"If you all hadn't been here to help, I would've had to do all of this by myself..."

PA #2: Q&A Sessions

Hello!
I hope all of my readers and viewers are doing well this Saturday evening! After a VERY full day, I just wanted to drop a bit of an announcement as I make plans for the next "way" to life it up!

The first announcement (as there are MORE to come) has to do with a new idea that has popped into my head for "The Single Life". And honestly, it won't leave me ALONE =) I would like to start a bit of a Q & A forum here on the blog! Here's how things will go: you will send me your questions about single life and the sorts and I'll answer them...via VLOG/Youtube! Ingenious, right? I'm trying to find out how to make "submit query" forms on here so that some of you can submit your questions anonymously/aliased, if you'd like! This idea is so important to me because it gives my readers/viewers a voice! So, for the time being (as long as it takes me to figure out how to make the form), just submit your questions via email:(allythewriter@gmail.com).

& I can't wait to see what some of you have to say!

As usual, Life it UP!

Hope you all are enjoying the blog (and the improvements) as much as I am! Feel free to leave comments or maybe make suggestions on how I could life it up a little more!

Life it Up!

Way #2: Get out & About!

Out aaaaand About!

Hello fab singles! Sorry that it's taken SO LONG for me to turn my first REAL ENTRY out, but I've been enjoying the wonderful spring weather (even though the pollen is about to KILL me) and partying it up this spring break! I had seven fabulous days full of family, food and fun! Easter was wonderful as mommy was in the cooking spirit, making the world's best and cutest "bunny cake" for the grandkids! Then, I spent a lot, like unusual, amount of time out and about! I was rarely in the house! I went downtown Covington and watched the set up for a taping of an episode of Vampire Diaries, the Princess Diana exhibit at the Atlanta Civic Center with my mother and niece, saw "Why Did I Get Married Too" and spent Sunday evening with my Young Adult Minister, his wife and the other YA's. And all of this followed the crazy week preparing for Easter Service and the Easter Cantata! Whew! Can we say busy!? Why yes. Yes I can. And I can say it without grimacing as I had SO MUCH fun! More fun than I've had in a long time! And what did I do? I got OUT and ABOUT!

Singles, when is the last time you filled your time up with something other than yourself?

Way #1: Start a blog

"Where there's a will, there's a way..."

Or perhaps, where there is boredom and a desire to express oneself through writing, there's an outlet! And it's called "blogging". I've only just gotten interested in the phenomenon entitled blogging. I never thought of myself as a person to collect my thoughts and document them as I could never keep a personal journal, nor diary. Sigh, I can't even keep up with my own TWEETS. But a resounding urge kept pounding on the very door of my brain, waking me in the middle of very deep sleep and sometimes, distracting me in the middle of very impertinent thoughts. Start a blog, it said. "ABOUT WHAT?!" That was my reply...definitely in caps as I wanted to scream out in anguish at a repetitive message that made no sense at all. At my question, my brain literally laughed. About being single of course, silly (insert eye roll here). What better way to FILL your time during your season of singleness (AND unemployment) than to document every moment of it through blog, give it a spiffy title...and PRAY that someone who feels the same way and is living the same journey as I am will actually stumble upon this thing in cyberspace and READ it.

Testing...

Just testing this new idea out.

Hope it takes off in more ways than i'd ever think possible...
